The two companies have developed a catalyst product that can produce better efficiency rates. The MeC and MeC-B catalysts are built on a turbulent substrate, which increases surface area and performance without increasing backpressure. This optimized design reduces ash fouling and cleaning frequency while increasing the catalytic reactions needed to reduce HAPs.
The catalysts feature resistance welding and mechanical locking of flat to corrugated layers, and diffusion bonding. This provides greater mechanical stability over the thermal cycling life of the element. Round elements also weld every layer of foil to the core for longer performance life.
The MeC and MeC-Beast oxidation catalyst line is built with an increased catalyst surface and coating durability. Every cubic foot of catalytic surface area is equivalent to the surface area of 55 football fields. Their thermally stabilized wash coat provides greater resistance to sintering during prolonged operation at high temperatures. This means the exhaust pollutants will seep into the wash coat, rather than passing through the catalysts or skimming across the top.
Additionally, these new models offer increased precious metals durability with a higher tolerance to the contaminants found in engine exhaust, lube oil and coolants. A proprietary form of platinum yields super-high dispersion on the catalyst surface for better performance and longer service life.
